Community maps

Chiip ships with three small maps and a shooting range. More can come from you: maps are curated in the repository. You send a map as a pull request, it is looked at and played, and it ships with the next release.

How a map gets in

  1. Build it from the map kit in TrenchBroom: textures, props and lamps drawn for Chiip, and markers for spawns, routes and bomb sites. The mapping guide goes through it step by step.
  2. Follow the rules: the look rules (a few materials, no saturated red or blue on big surfaces) and the building rules (first contact in 5 to 10 seconds, no long sightlines, no view from spawn to spawn) are in the maps notes.
  3. Pass the checks: the maps test plays bot rounds and a respawn match on your map, and the map report measures it.
  4. Open a pull request with the map, screenshots and the test output. Your name goes in the credits.

Maps you send are licensed CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 like the game's other art, and you keep your copyright and your credit. Code contributions are GPL-3.0. Don't copy another game's map: no Counter-Strike names or layouts, no desert palettes.
