Chiip

A tactical shooter in the spirit of Counter-Strike, with the look of a 1990s Quake-era game. Bomb rounds, team deathmatch or everyone for themselves, with bot teammates and bot enemies, or online with friends in place of the bots. Free, for Windows, macOS and Linux.

What it is

Three modes

Bomb: CS-style rounds. Buy in the freeze time, plant or defuse, first to 5 rounds with a side swap. Team Deathmatch: respawning, first team to the kill limit. Free-for-all: everyone for themselves. After a death the killcam shows the last seconds through your killer's eyes.

Maps and a range

Depot, Square and Spillway, small and fast, alone or in a rotation (at the end of a match everyone votes for the next map). The Shooting Range has targets at every distance, an aim trainer and a spray wall that draws each gun's pattern.

Classes and arsenal

Rifleman, Bulwark, Marksman and Scout (two are offered at random each match) and a full arsenal: rifle, carbine, SMG, shotgun, sniper, pistol, hand cannon, knife and three grenades, armor, kits and a light economy.

CS-style feel

Counter-strafing, a spray pattern you can learn, headshots, wallbangs through thin cover, and sensitivity in CS units. Bots on three difficulties that call out enemies and trade kills.

Online with friends

One player hosts, friends join, bots fill the empty slots. Made for Tailscale: nothing to open on your router. Games on your network list themselves in the game browser; hosts you joined are remembered; text chat works in the lobby and in matches.

Stats and training

K/D, ADR, headshot % and accuracy per weapon, wins per mode and map, and your last 100 matches, all saved on your computer. Your bests in the aim trainer and the spray wall are kept too.

Sound

Every gun has its own close and far shot, sound is muffled through walls and rings in yards, rooms and halls, so you hear where a fight is and what is in the way. Menu music and round stingers included.

For everyone

A colour-blind-safe team colour option, gamepad support with button prompts, a compass with callouts, a UI that scales to any window, fullscreen and a UI scale setting.

Pixel-art menus in the Silkscreen font, a map kit with textures, props and lamps drawn for Chiip, a palette effect, and a free, open game: licences and credits.
